Coach Sam Stone has coached tennis to all ages for over 10 years. Sam was a four-year starter at a Top-30 NCAA Division III tennis program. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in Spanish, he was hired to run the Boys’ Varsity tennis team at a high school in Connecticut. Under Sam’s leadership, the team made it to the playoffs for the first time in 8 years. To continue his professional dream of coaching nationally ranked juniors, Sam subsequently coached at LTA, a premier summer tennis academy for juniors in Boston. Recently, Sam was the Assistant Junior Pro at the San Dieguito Tennis Club as well as Assistant Pro at the Balboa Tennis Club. He recently founded the San Diego Tennis Center, which aims to introduce juniors and adults to tennis at city park and recreation facilities that are underutilized. He is a USPTA Certified Tennis Professional and is 10+Under certified by the USPTA. Finally, Sam remembers the difference that great coaches had in his life and he strives to pay it forward to the next generation of young student-athletes.
