1. Serve and return

Start the point and recover into position.

I am learning to put the serve and return in.I start most points, but depth and placement vary.I serve and return consistently with useful depth.I vary placement and handle pressure reliably.I use placement and pace to shape the next shot against strong opponents.

2. Dinking

Keep the ball low in a patient kitchen-line exchange.

I am learning the soft shot.I sustain a few dinks but often pop the ball up.I maintain routine crosscourt and straight-ahead dinks.I move opponents while keeping difficult dinks controlled.I create attackable balls with varied, dependable dinking under pressure.

3. Drops and transition

Move from the baseline toward the kitchen with control.

I usually hit hard and stay back.I attempt drops but their height varies widely.I make routine drops and move forward behind them.I choose drops or drives and advance in balanced steps.I adapt transition patterns and execute difficult drops against strong pressure.

4. Resets and defense

Turn a fast exchange into a manageable soft ball.

Fast balls usually overwhelm me.I block some fast balls but leave them high.I reset moderate pace and recover after the shot.I absorb pace and reset from several court positions.I defend sustained pressure and repeatedly reset to neutral.

5. Volleys and attacks

Choose when to attack, block or stay patient.

I am learning to contact the ball before it bounces.I make easy volleys but rush attacks.I control routine volleys and attack obvious high balls.I place attacks and counter with a compact swing.I disguise attacks, counter fast exchanges and retain control under pressure.

6. Doubles positioning and decisions

Evaluate teamwork and positioning rather than athletic speed.

I am learning scoring, court positions and the kitchen.I understand basic positions but leave gaps.I move with my partner and recover after routine shots.I cover angles, communicate and choose high-percentage patterns.I adapt positioning and patterns consistently against advanced opponents.
